Who we are

Bonnie Wilder is a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and Oral Motor Specialist with over 30 years of experience helping children and young adults ages 0–21 with speech, feeding, and myofunctional challenges.

Bonnie specializes in the connection between oral motor skills and speech and feeding. She works with children who have difficulty with speech sounds, chewing, eating, food textures, sensory sensitivities, food aversions, or the coordination and strength needed for effective speech and feeding.

Every child is different. Bonnie provides individualized, hands-on therapy designed to help children build stronger oral motor skills, become more comfortable with eating, improve speech production, and gain confidence in everyday activities.

Bonnie received her Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders, with a minor in Teaching, from the University of Wisconsin and earned her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from New York University.

Malka is a speech-language pathologist with 25 years of professional experience. Before joining Alphabet Soup with Lori Overland and Bonnie Wilder in 2006, Malka worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in New York and for the NYS Early Intervention program.

Malka specializes in muscle-based therapies, including myofunctional therapy, muscle-based speech disorders, and oral sensory/motor feeding disorders. She works with a variety of clients, ranging in ages from babies through young adults, some with medical diagnoses and some without.

Malka is certified in NDT (Neurodevelopmental Treatment) and is trained in a number of therapy techniques, including PROMPT and the Kaufman Program (for motor planning disorders/apraxia), and SOS and Talk Tools’s Sensory-Motor Feeding Approach (for sensory and motor feeding disorders), among others.

Malka earned her B.A. from University of Pennsylvania and her M.S. in Communication Disorders from Hunter College. She is a member of ASHA (the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and a three-time recipient of ASHA’s Award for Continuing Education. Malka has served as the teaching assistant to Karen Goldberg’s course “Beyond the NICU - NDT Approach in EI Settings for the Preterm Infant.” She has taught and continues to teach at various universities and adult education programs in New York, including courses in Linguistics and Phonetics to undergraduate majors in Speech-Language Pathology.
